Pepita S is a Keur KWPN mare purchased from VDL Stud in Holland and imported to our farm in 2001 at the time she was in foal to Hold up Premier. Pepita’s breeder in Holland, family Van Straaten, is represented by no less than seven mares in the KWPN index of the top 250 best mares. On the KWPN index of the 50 most sport-bred colts born in 1997, three stallions are bred by the Van Straaten family. In addition, Family Van Straaten holds a splendid 28th place on the WBFSH world ranking for sport horse breeders.
As a three year old, Pepita completed the IBOP test in Holland, she scored an amazing: 8 for walk, 8 for trot and 8 for canter, this was the top score at the large Keuring she attended awarding her the predicate Keur.
Pepita’s famous mare line is loaded with international level jumpers, her grand-dam and great grand-dam both jumped at the highest levels of the sport. Pepita’s dam the Ster KWPN mare Haroom T is also the mother of the jumping star Kimcorda and the full blood sibling to Pepita, the KWPN approved Stallion VDL Sarantos
VDL Sarantos
Sarantos is one of the most successful and promising show jumpers in Holland. He is the winner of the Stallion competition of Zuidbroek, Promising Young Stallion in Zwolle and was 3rd in the Stallion competition of Hengelo. Sarantos received the following scores during his KWPN stallion testing: 8 for canter, 8 for jumping take-off and technique, 9 for scope and 8.5 for his talent for jumping. Pepita is the only sibling from this highly successful mare line to be imported to North America. In February 2006, at the KWPN Stallion competition Sarantos was the overall Z level champion and the winner of the KWPN stallion competition.
During the KWPN-NA Keuring tour in 2004, Pepita’s eldest offspring, Union S, was ranked #7 in the Top Ten list for his jumping ability. Her coming five year old stallion son Varoom made his show ring début March 2006 in the dressage arena with great success. Varoom’s owners rave about his exceptional work ethic and outstanding easy going personality, we hear the same comments from all the owners of Pepita’s offspring.
In 2006, Pepita’s sensational Indoctro yearling filly, Anime P, was awarded 1st Premium and High Score Young Horse at the Pineland Keuring in Maine to finish #1 in the Nation on the KWPN-NA prestigious Top Ten list! The juries complementary comments were; “Best of the young horses, Anime P, is very well developed, quite big for a yearling but with a perfect shape, harmonious built, beautiful long sloping shoulder, supple in her movement and good long legs.''
2007 proved to be another tremendous year for Pepita when no less than three of her outstanding Indoctro offspring finished on the prestigious KWPN-NA Top Five list after the results from the KWPN-NA Keuring Tour were calculated. Anime P was awarded first premium two year old, Compass P was first premium and finished as the #4 Jumper Foal on the KWPN-NA Top Five list, Beam P was first premium and finished as the #3 Jumper Yearling on the KWPN-NA Top Five list and Zoom P (Zarek P) finished #2 in the Iron Spring Cup.

Pepita S’s sire is the Keur KWPN stallion Emilion. Emilion’s Keur IBOP AA mother is a daughter of the full sister of the Holsteiner top sire Lord. Emilion's jumping index is 158 with 76% reliability. Emilion had a very successful career with many top finishes including: 1st in the World cup at Millstreet, 4th in the GP at Valkenswaard, 2nd in the GP at Donaueschingen, 5th in the GP of London, 6th in the World Pup Ahus, and with the German team he was 4th in Dublin and 2nd in Bremin.
Emilion has many successful up and coming young horses including: Kelion-W.J. v.d. Schans, VDL Liberty-A Hoorn, VDL Lely-E Willems Geeroms, Eurocommerce Caprie-W Shroder, Lotus Excel-B Madden. Pepita’s dam, Haroom T, is a Ster KWPN mare by the Holsteiner stallion Larome. Prior to starting her breeding career Haroom competed successfully in both dressage and jumping. To date Haroom has produced the following offspring: Kimcorda KWPN Sport (Jumping) mare by [Concorde], Nicordo KWPN gelding by [Concorde] competing in M level dressage, Pepita-S Keur KWPN mare by [Emilion], Ramazzotti KWPN stallion by [Great Pleasure] competing in both dressage and jumping, VDL Sarantos KWPN approved stallion by [Emilion], Tarantos KWPN stallion by [Emilion], Uldrika KWPN mare by [Emilion], Vermillion KWPN stallion by [Emilion], Zummertime KWPN stallion by [Corland] and Amaretto KWPN stallion by [Corland].
Haroom’s sire Larome is a son of the legendary Landgraf I by Ladykiller xx is a top source of all-round competition talent in the Holstein breed. He has over 30 offspring currently jumping at top International level including: Libero H, Taggi, Major Wager and is the sire of the international dressage horse Lugano 140. His total progeny winnings to date are over £2.5 million. Larome’s offspring are known for their brilliant type and very special movement who excel in show jumping. He has many sons approved for breeding.
Peptia grand-dam, Arfarnmira, is a Ster Sport (Jumping) mare who competed at the highest levels of the sport. Arfarnmira is by the prolific ‘Preferent’ stallion G. Ramrio Z who is without question one of the most influential jumper and dressage sires in the world. G. Ramiro Z was champion of his stallion test in 1969, was awarded the title of “Horse of the Year” in 1992 and has through the success of this offspring earned the tag of “Euro-Stallion”. He sired the approved sons: Almiro, Bernstein, Dageraad, Damiro, Elmero, and Zeoliet. One of his most famous offspring is the superstar show jumper Ratina Z who won both gold and silver medals at the Barcelona Olympics as well as the Volvo World Cup and many Grand Prix victories. Raimro is also the sire of the 2004 Athens Olympic Medalist Royal Kaliber, and is grandsire to Athens Olympics super stars Montender and Butterfly Flip. G. Ramiro Z has sired hundreds more offspring competing and winning all over the world.
