Sire
Rolanda’s sire is the prolific ‘Preferent’ KWPN stallion Olympic Ahorn. Ahorn competed at top International level consistently placed in World Cups and Grand Prix competitions representing the Netherlands in Nations Cup competitions and was short-listed for the Barcelona Olympics, which earned him the prefix “Olympic”.
His results are extensive and include: 9th Amsterdam, 7th Geneva, 6ht Mechlin, 2nd The Hague, 4th s'Hertogenbosch, 4th Zuric, 5th Hickstead and 1993 he was the international 1.40m stallion champion. Ahorn is descended from one of the famous Holstein Families, no. 242 and is related to Joost, Alcatraz and Locarno. His mother produced four approved stallions and so far three International show jumpers.
Ahorn's offspring continue the success with a number of progeny competing at International level. These include: Tinto, Feisal, Eleva, Anadolu Foxfire, Nissan High Valley Z who was Dutch Champion and placed at Grand Prix, Gerwin, Smiley, Australie 2000 winning at Grand Prix level and top seven year old in Austria, VDL Miss Ahorn, Dublin 3, Stella, Grandriver, Jerremy, V&L Chanel who has won and placed numerous times at Grand Prix competitions, Greco, Hendo, Furore, Giny, Hattrick, Ivoor and Iron to name a few.
Ian Millar's 2004 Athens Olympic mount Promise Me's damsire is by Olympic Ahorn . Olympic Ahorn is also the sire of Feizal with Mario Deslauriers , Eurocommerce Geneve who placed 10th at the 2003 World Cup Finals and Iron who represented Italy in the 2000 Olympics.
A fantastic producer of broodmares Ahorn is the sire of European Champion mare Helena, reserve European Champion Korenbloem, Dutch Champion mare Haciende who was also Champion at the 1997 stallion show in Den Bosch, Firette who was a five times UTV qualifier and Geminka Keur who is the dam of Dutch dressage star Kelvin. At the 1996 World Championships for young horses in Lanaken, Ahorn was the only KWPN stallion to have two progeny placed, Icamorka and Iron. He is also the sire of Neckar, the top priced horse at the 1998 Equilibra Challenge auction who sold for high price as a three year old.
As well as top competition horses Ahorn has produced eight graded sons. M. Hyazinthe ‘Prestatie’, a German State premium mare, produced four approved stallions and three International show jumpers. Olympic Ahorn’s sire, Nimmerdor also competed successfully in World Cups, Grand Prix and forfeited his place at the Olympics in order to fulfill his stud requirements. Nimmerdor produced over 50 approved stallions and over 60 progeny who have competed at international level in sport. He is approved by almost every sport horse and warmblood breed society and has been awarded ‘Preferant’ status by the KWPN which is the highest possible award for stallion recognition. Farn has also produced many top horses and is the damsire of Geoff Billington's famous gelding Virtual Village It's Otto.
Mare Line
Rolanda’s dam, Kalanda, is an Elite KWPN mare, she scored 74.5 on her IBOP and competed M2 level dressage with great results. She has produced the following foals to date: Olympus KWPN stallion by [Voltaire], Papillon KWPN mare by [Calido], Rolanda Keur Elite KWPN mare by [Olympic Ahorn], Selando KWPN stallion by [Olympic Ahorn], Talanda Ster Elite KWPN mare by [Voltaire] currently competing in dressage, Ulanda PROK KWPN mare by [Heartbreaker], Wilanda KWPN mare by [Emilion] and Zerlando KWPN stallion by the Holsteiner stallion [Berlin].
Kalanda’s sire is Lord Calando, a son of the great Holsteiner sire Lord by Ladykiller xx. Lord is considered to be a pillar of Holsteiner breeding with his many progeny in high level competition including the famous Livius, winner of the Hamburg Derby and in the Olympic Games in 1984, L’Eperon, Lord Z, Lord Caletto and Aegon’s Lordon. Lord Calando’s other approved sons include: Lacantus, FEI-Level Dressage horse, and Lux Z, who competed in the Sydney Olympics for Italy and won Pulsar Crown competitions in Valkenswaard and Cannes. Lord Calando’s mother, Perra, by Calando I, is also the dam of the fabulous Carthago Z [by Capitol I], who competed at the Sydney Olympics with Jos Lansink. Both Hilltop Farm’s young stallion Royal Appearance and Ludo Philippaerts’ Chatman boast Lord Calando as their damsire, as do many other successful sport horses around the world.
Lord Calando is the sire of many international show jumping and dressage horses such as: Locanda (Marcus Ehning) and Lukas (Emma Wester). The Hanoverian stallion Lux Z was bred at Zangersheide Stud Farm out of the Holstein mare Apocalypte Z [Ahorn Z], a product of lineage 2543. This famous Holstein family was also responsible for the licensed stallions: Lavallo, Lasino and Lone Star.
Rolanda’s grand-dam, Barke I, is a holsteiner mare by Ahorn Z who competed internationally as did his graded sons Acord I, Amaro, Antares and Aar. Ahorn Z also has a number of other progeny which have jumped with success such as Lord Arico, Acapulco and Dobel’s Gettina. Heureka H was a Grand Prix winner in Aquisgrana and has been the founder of the family of the Breeding Zangersheide. She is also the grand-dam of the famous Ratina Z, winner of the team Gold and individual Silver at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, winner of the World Cup in 1993, the team Gold at the World Championships in 1994 and the team Gold at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
In blood Rolanda is very closely related to Lux Z through her mare line. Lux Z is one of the most successful stallions in international show jumping. With Jerry Smit, Lux Z participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the World Games in Jerez in 2002.He also won the Pulsar Crown competitions in Valkenswaard and Cannes to bring Lux Z's total winnings to more than a million euro.
