Successful VDL Auction in Wellington

March 8, 2012

The VDL Stud organized together wit the great team of Equestrian Sport Production an auction for young and potential jumpers during the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington. It was the first time that there was an auction for young potential jumpers in Wellington. The auction took place in an amazing arena, known as “the stadium) where the dressage shows are held.

The collection horses consisted of thirteen 4-years old KWPN bred geldings, the KWPN approved stallion Dakota VDL and a 6-years old KWPN bred mare. The horses were sold for an average price of US$ 110.357,-. De highest price in the auction was offered for the KWPN approved stallion Dakota VDL (Casall x Contender), which is purchased for US$ 210.000,- by the Hyperion Stud, who is based in Barboursville VA, USA. Dakota will be carefully schooled this year and he will show nest year in the 5-years old classes. Dakota VDL will be available with fresh semen for the breeds in North America. It’s a great opportunity for the KWPN breeders there and also for all other breeders in North America.

The offspring of the VDL stallions were very populair in Wellington. The offsprings of Douglas were sold for high prices. Douplesse (Douglas x Corland, bred by W. Leijten) was sold for US€ 130.000,- and Discovery-O (Douglas x Indcotro, bred by J. van Oers) was sold for US$ 145.000,-. Three offspring of the Olympic stallion Cardento were sold, Dakar VDL (Cardento x Marlon, bred by VDL Stud) was the Cardento son with the highest price and was sold for US$ 120.000,-. A brother and sister, both offspring of Indoctro, were sold voor US$ 150.000,- and US$ 110.000,-. There were also two offspring of both VDL stallion Indorado and Wittinger in the auction, and there were also sons of Chin Chin and Quaprise in the auction.

The auction was very succesfull and proves that the with quality KWPN bred horses are popular in America. The growing market for sporthorses from the VDL Stud are the results of the good performing offspring of VDL Stallions in North America and off the Sporthorses that have already been sold to North America by the VDL Stud
