Baltic VDL

Baltic is a son of the, prematurely deceased, Grand Prix jumper Quaprice. The ‘Keur’ stallion Jus de Pomme (double Gold winner at the Atlanta Olympics) is sire to many Grand Prix jumpers. The line then continues with the proven sires Wellington, Orthos, Joost and Rigoletto.

Baltic’s dam is the ‘Ster, Preferent and Prestatie’ mare Nellandra. She is the dam of the approved stallion Vegas VDL and the 1.60m jumper Don Vito of Ben Maher. Nellandra is a full sister to the Grand Prix jumper Mellandra.

As a 3-year old, Baltic was the KWPN Stallion Testing Champion. As a 7-year old, Baltic finished 6th in the Dutch Championships (VION Cup) and 3rd in the KWPN Stallion Competition. Baltic jumps now at the 1.50m level with James Billington. The pair has had solid performances to include 5th in Kiel, 2nd in Drammen and 7th in the GP Wierden. Additionally, Baltic took 3rd in the VHO trophy, 8th in 1.50m Geesteren and 8th in 1.50m Ommen. In the Sires of the World competition Baltic jumped clear and finished in 10th place.

Offspring

The first results of Baltic’s breeding career are impressive – with the eldest 7 years old. VDL Farona won the Championship for 6-year olds in Canada and won three classes at Spruce Meadows; Flick Flack had international victories in Wiener Neustadt; Fancy Roos VDL scored 88 points for her IBOP and is jumping internationally, now, with a 2nd place at CSI De Wolden. First Baltic and Freya were finalists at the World Championship for 6-year olds in Lanaken. Haltic placed 9th in the ISAH Cup for 4-year olds. In 2015, Fort Medoc VDL placed 4th in the ISAH Cup for 4-year olds and was approved by Zangersheide. Goodluck VDL was designated Champion of the AES Stallion Show in 2013 and won the 4-yr old Championship at the Cavan International Horse Show.

Daughters of Baltic are impressive, also, and show their bloodline consistency at mare shows and loose-jumping competitions. Hiske VDP was Champion of the Central Mare Show of Zuid-Holland and Helita C wore the Champion’s ribbon at the Central Mare Show of Noord-Holland. Hipyrusa H scored 82.5 points for her IBOP-test. Gyrusa H was 6th in the final of the National Mare Show in 2014 and scored 82.5 points for her IBOP-test. Gidonia VDP took Champion of the Central Mare Show of Zuid-Holland and scored no less than 88 points for her IBOP-test. In 2013 two of Baltic’s daughters placed well at the Dutch Mare Championship: Faviana, 3rd and Fancy Roos VDL, 4th. Landru became Champion of the foals at the Central Foal Show of Flevoland.

In the WEF Sport Horse Auction 2016, Farona H was sold for $ 240.000 and Hampton VDL for $ 90.000.

Baltic has several approved sons, of which Graziano VDL and Hampton VDL were approved by the KWPN, and the Champion of the AES Stallion approvals was Goodluck VDL.

Baltic carries 55.66% thoroughbred.
