Zirocco Blue VDL Keur

Zirocco Blue’s dam, Licorne des Forets, competed at the international 1.50m level and his grand dam, Gekas des Forets, not only competed at 1.40m level but was also called ‘the most winning’ 6-year old in France. Great-grand dam Rapsodie II also competed at 1.40m level.

Wherever Zirocco Blue competes all eyes are upon him with his scope, jumping style and efficiency. Under Jur Vrieling he has achieved several very impressive international results. They won the Team Gold Medal at the European Championship and individually were 5th. In the Las Vegas World Cup final they finished 10th. The World Cup of Oslo, the Grand Prix’s of Kopenhagen, Melsomvik (2x) and Geesteren, the Masters in Mechelen – all saw Zirocco wearing the winner’s sash. As a member of the Dutch team they won the Nations Cup of Rotterdam, Kopenhagen and Gijon. In the Dutch Jumping Championship he was 2nd.

Not only in sport but also in breeding Zirocco Blue is exceptional. His first offspring are competing at Grand Prix level with many achievements: Deep Blue Bridge S placed 3rd in the Grand Prix of Arezzo; Dazermie won Knokke’s Grand Prix; Daylinde won six international classes – among them the 1.45m classes at Geesteren and Ommen; Dobbey won a 1.45m class at Lichtenvoorde; Delvecchio won several 1.40m classes, and Dirocco B won twice in Brussels.

Offspring

Not only in sport but also in breeding Zirocco Blue is exceptional. The ‘Blue’ appellation is referenced with excitement whenever seen.

His first offspring are competing at Grand Prix level with many achievements: Eddie Blue won the World Cup class of North Salem and the GP Silver Oak. Deep Blue Bridge S won five international classes among them the GP Ising am Chiemsee. Donjo won the GP Wiener Neustadt and was 6th in the GP Dublin, Durango VDL was 4th in the GP Blenheim, Evitta won the GP Megeve, Ficardi B won the GP Wierden, Dirocco Blue was 3rd in the GP Williamsburg etc.

International Young Jumper classes were also won by his offspring. Fair Field won in Asten and Geesteren. Fugero Carlos and Florian both won two classes at Outdoor Gelderland. In Zuidwolde classes were won by Fresco Blue, Guessina and G-Vingino-Blue and For Fun VT won in Wiener Neustadt.

Many champions neck-ribbons have been worn by his descendants: Idagonda became
Dutch Champion of the 4-year old jumpers. In 2016 Flair was Dutch Champion of the 6-year olds. Florian was Dutch Champion of the 5-year olds in 2015. Ellexa de Nuit was Belgium Champion of the 5-year olds. In Turkey, Escudero was Champion of their 6-year olds. On the American East Coast Eddie Blue won the 6-year old Young Jumper Championship having also won the series for 5-year olds the prior year.

In mare performance tests and IBOP, high scores were achieved: Galetto scored 85 points, Ilverna scored 86 points and Ielisa 81.5 points. Ely VDL received the highest IBOP score of 2012: 89 points.

Offspring successes translated into high prices at the auctions; VDL Dixi Blue sold for $100.000 in the WEF Sport Horse Auction 2016, and Fix Blue sold for € 120.000 in the Dutch Sport Horse Sales 2015.

Zirocco Blue is now an acknowledged ‘Sire of Sires’. With several approved stallion sons. Last year Heineken VK VDL was approved by the KWPN, Zalando was approved by the Hannoverian verband and at the approvals in Mecklenburg two of his sons were approved.
