With the individual Gold Medal at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Big Star and the British Nick Skelton crowned their exceptional career in international show-jumping sport. Already in 2012, they were Team Olympic winners in London, winners in the Grand-Prix of Hamburg and in 2013, winners of the Grand-Prix of Aachen and Rome. Big Star also achieved eleven consecutive clear rounds in Nations Cups. Although he has only been used in breeding sparingly up to now, Big Star has already produced, with Big Star Jr. and E-Star, two licensed sons. The oldest offspring from his time at stud in the Netherlands are successful in S level show-jumping sport.

Big Star’s pedigree is an explosion of international show-jumping expertise: His sire Quick Star was known worldwide from the Hussar ride with Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and won several Grand-Prix classes. He has passed on his jumping predisposition numerous times and is part of the elite group of the WBFSH world ranking of sires. His dam Jolanda was successful in sport and produced, with different sires, twelve foals, who almost without exception achieved merits in show-jumping sports. She descends from Nimmerdor, who was internationally successful in show-jumping with Albert Voorn (NED), and combines the best Holstein and Dutch genes. For many years, Nimmerdor has belonged to the most sought-after show-jumping producers in Holland but also in Europe and has proved himself of great value in Germany thanks to several licensed sons. In the third generation is Ramiro, one of the first “Euro-Stallions”, and known for the special quality of bloodlines. He was internationally successful with Fritz Ligges and sent top horses several dozen times to the biggest show-jumping arenas in the world. Big Star represents the “NL-merrielijn 169” (Dutch dam-line 169), a Dutch mare family rich in tradition, which produced many licensed stallions.
